The Boolarra Folk Festival is a FREE annual community event held in the beautiful country township of Boolarra.
The next Boolarra Folk Festival will be held on Saturday 5th of March 2011.
Please come along and enjoy the relaxed and friendly atmosphere, whilst enjoying the music of talented local artists. Our Art, Craft and Food Market will once again provide visitors with the opportunity to discover the work of many local artisans.

The Boolarra Folk Festival committee are extremely proud to have won Community Event of the Year Award at the Latrobe City 2008 & 2009 Australia Day Awards. Festival Convenor, Ray Stewart (the hairy one at the back), delivered a fitting (and long) tribute to the community of Boolarra, in thanks for their continued support and hard work.
The multi-award winning Boolarra Folk Festival is unique to Gippsland, as it is the only free folk festival that is an all-day event staged in one of the most beautiful parks in Gippsland. Our 8th festival is sure to be a fantastic day!

ATM & Eftpos Facilities: Boolarra is a small town with a population of 400 people, so electronic facilites are limited. We do try our best to cater for the large influx on the day, but it would be wise to bring along cash to avoid disappointment.
The Music Stage is located in Centenary Park. Art, Craft and Food Stalls are located in Railway Park. Plenty to see, buy, eat and drink here!

In 2010 our fine Boolarra Folk Festival Wine will be for sale at the Alcohol Tent and also in Railway Park during the day. As with all our merchandise, proceeds from Boolarra Folk Festival Wine sales go towards funding next years festival. Please also see our Information Tent for Badges, T-shirts, Programs, Stubby Holders, Posters, and Wine, or give a gold coin donation. Please help us keep the festival free!
The success of the KIDS TENT at previous festivals has guaranteed the inclusion of this in 2010. It is located in Centenary Park in view of the stage.
2010 HEALING TENT: Nurture yourself with holistic healing! Information available as well as practical workshops and personal sessions running throughout the day.
The SCHOOLS DRUMMING PERFORMANCE is back in 2010. It's sure to be the biggest ever, involving several primary schools from throughout the region.
Acoustic buskers are welcome to perform in Railway Park.
The Boolarra Pub runs an Alcohol Tent and Enclosure near the skate park. Alcohol bought in this area must be consumed in this area (with the exception of unopened Boolarra Folk Festival wine bottles, which may be bought from the tent and consumed outside of the enclosure.
B.Y.O. Alcohol may be consumed in Centenary Park, but otherwise please observe the alcohol and smoke free areas.
The Boolarra Pub will be open for meals 6-8pm.
On Saturday Evening: AFTER DARK JAM SESSION
Begins: 7.30pm FREE
Festivities continue at the Boolarra Recreation Reserve on Park Road, where there will be an opportunity for musicians to get together and jam. Food will be available to purchase at this venue. B.Y.O. Alcohol!
People are welcome to camp FREE at the Recreation Reserve. NOT ON THE OVAL. Toilets and shower facilities are provided free at this venue.

Accommodation
One of the features of the Boolarra Folk Festival is the opportunity for visitors to bring a tent, caravan or even a swag and just camp out at the Football Ground or out on the grounds of the Boolarra Pub. Showers and toilets will be supplied at the Football Ground and also electric bbq facilities. There will be no fee for camping at either venue so this is a great opportunity to bring along the whole family and enjoy the peace and tranquility of our lovely village.
There are also bed and breakfast facilities in Boolarra and at the nearby Hazelwood Pondage Caravan Park for your use at very reasonable prices.

Boolarra Folk Festival 2009
The 7th annual Boolarra Folk Festival was held in beautiful Centenary Park. Many thousands of people came along to enjoy the calm and friendly atmosphere. The Healing Tent was once again held in Centenary Park, where many enjoyed a relaxing Reiki session or some aromatherapy. The Kids' Tent was in Centenary Park, with many interesting craft activities available to entertain the troops. This year there was also a Teenagers' Tent, where free hairbraiding, nail varnishing and other wonderful activities and services was offered. Another new initiative this year, is the introduction of a "Circus Skills" area, where you will be able to learn New Zealand Poi, Twirling, Diablo and Juggling.
The Art, Craft and Food Market was held in Railway Park from 10am.
Many local artisans had the opportunity to showcase the breadth of talent
within the region.

On the 4th of February the Victorian Government provided $5000 to help the 2009 Boolarra Folk Festival go ahead. The Boolarra Folk Festival grant will be provided through the Brumby Government’s Provincial Victoria Local Events Program to Latrobe City Council. The Premier John Brumby said the festival promised a fantastic weekend for locals and visitors and the Victorian Government was committed to ensuring its success.
